ALLIE FIELDS – HORSEWOMAN

When I met the young Rebel soldier, Dan Fields, on that snowy night so many years ago, I assumed he was a Civil War re-enactor strayed from the Jackson march group. Although he seemed somewhat disoriented by his surroundings, his demeanor was straight-forward and unassuming.   His blue eyes held a wistful expression and when he smiled, I realized that under the growth of beard and the wild, curing hair, he was a good-looking man.

I found out later that Dan had strayed from the real General Jackson’s army on the march from Winchester to Bath in January, 1862.  He had fallen through time and found himself near his home, but the year was 2010.  He worked hard to fit into this world and a year later, we were married.  We lived on my family farm and Dan helped me expand my small herd of horses and add breeding stock.  Our daughter, Anna, was born and is now sixteen.

Anna is a normal high school student in all ways but one; she inherited her great-grandma’s magical skills and is on her way to becoming a powerful Wise-Woman.  These skills, while an asset, also bring problems.  Dan and I must protect Anna from those trying to exploit her.  There is also the added fear that she is too taken with the Fey, especially young Rad.  He offers her a fantastic magical life, but all magic has its price.
