The crystal is a symbol of light and of energy. The most sacred and mystical stone in many ancient cultures, its transparency was thought to act as a mirror through which things were seen clearly.
Egyptians used triangular crystals in pyramids to attract the sun’s power. American Indians often buried them with the dead to help souls cross over to the next world. In Tibetan culture, they were sacred objects empowered with the elements.
The crystal’s energy is found in its structure. As it grows, it reaches up to the light from the depths of the earth and is believed to be both a receiver and transmitter of energy. For many centuries, crystals have been used for healing the body and spirit and guarding against negative vibrations.
Many believe that crystals respond to energy in our bodies. Since it’s thought that crystals can absorb negative energy and guard against hexes and curses, people of many cultures carry them in pouches for protection. (Rebel Traveler – Pages 15, 18, 30, 179, 240)
